What issues or specialties do you focus on?We specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, life transitions, and stress management. We also offer ADHD coaching, psychoeducational testing, and sports psychology with mental skills coaching.
-
Do you offer emergency or crisis services?SoMi Counseling is not a crisis center. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room. You can also contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for immediate support.

What can I expect for the first therapy session with my child? The first session is all about building comfort and trust. Depending on your child’s age and needs, the therapist may begin by meeting with the parent(s) briefly to gather background information, followed by time alone with the child. The session will focus on getting to know your child, exploring what brings them in, and helping them feel safe and heard. Parents will also receive guidance on how to support the therapy process at home. No pressure is placed on your child to “open up” immediately — we move at a pace that feels right for them.
-
What ages do you work with?We provide therapy for children (ages 3+), teens, and adults. Services are customized to meet each client’s developmental and emotional needs.
-
How long are sessions and how often will I meet with my therapist? Most sessions are one hour. Many clients start with weekly sessions and adjust frequency based on their goals and progress.
-
Do you offer virtual therapy?Yes -- We offer both in-person and virtual sessions to meet your needs and schedule. However, virtual sessions may be at the clinician's discrepancy when factoring the age and needs of the client into consideration. We only always want to provide you with the best quality of service!
-
How do I schedule a session? You can reach out through our Contact page or call/text our scheduling line at 305-898-4555. We’ll respond quickly to help match you with the right therapist and get you scheduled.
-
What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?Therapy focuses on emotional healing and mental health. Coaching — like executive functioning or mental skills coaching — is about building practical tools to improve daily functioning or performance. We offer both and often blend them when it benefits the client.
-
What is a psychoeducational evaluation? This is a comprehensive assessment used to identify learning challenges, ADHD, or other cognitive or academic concerns. Results often help guide school supports and accommodations.
-
Where is your office located and is parking available? We’re located at 1450 Madruga Avenue, Suite 310, Coral Gables, FL 33146, close to the South Miami area and University of Miami. Unfortunately, the parking spaces underneath our building are reserved for building employees only. Parking is available via street metered parking and two public parking garages down the block. We’ll send you detailed directions before your first appointment.
-
Do you accept insurance? We are an out-of-network provider. However, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. We're happy to guide you through that process.
-
What is a SuperBill?A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network reimbursement. It lists services provided, dates of sessions, diagnosis codes, and the amount you paid. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you can submit the superbill to your insurance provider to request partial reimbursement for your sessions. We’re happy to generate superbills for you upon request and walk you through how to use them.
-
Will SoMi Counseling submit a SuperBill for me?SoMi Counseling will not submit a SuperBill, as we do not have any contact with insurance companies firsthand. We are happy to provide you with a SuperBill, and guide you on the steps to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement for an Out-of-Network policy.
